29 September, 2016

523 entries, 492 of them started and 479 finishers (among them 130 rookies) is not so bad statistics, as the serial number 13th for this years Haanja100 MTB predicted! As one of these “always there” was away this race, only 20 remained competing for “the last man standing” contest!

Weather was the main player of this year, as there wasn’t even usual morning dew, what could made the track muddy and slippery. This years winner, Mihhail Utkin from Russian Federation, was 17 minutes faster than last years winner Kusti Kittilä. The winning time of Haanja100 MTB 2016 was 4h46min. Second place went to a young “french amateur” Josten Vaidem and third place clarification needed a 3-men finish sprint, won by Kristjan Randma.

Among the seniors (M50) local hero Alar Reiska was the fastest, gaining overall very high – 14th place. Women had a tough fight for the win, but Greete Steinburg took her second win on Haanja100, ahead of Iiris Õunmaa and Janika Lõiv.

100miles race, held over 3 years, was won “suprisingly” by Tarmo Mõttus from Haanja CC, time 8h14min. Only one second later finished Paulius Natalevicius form Lithuainia and third place went to Aigar Raja. Tarmo Mõttus has now won 6 of 7 Haanja100 mile races! Among the “Iron Ladies” Nina Honka was the only one to start and finish 100miles race and of course she took the win! We would like to mention, that she used a single-speed cyclo-cross bike to do that insane thing….

14th Haanja100 MTB will take part on September 23rd, 2017! EC XCM will be also held on the same track on the same day!

Haanja100 team thanks all the participants and worships these 62, who had to work to make possible for the 500 to ride!!!
See U on new Haanja centuries!
